It causes serious infection in fishes and mainly carps and related species are more likely to be affected by the parasites mainly in biofloc systems. This disease may not create much havoc if the salinity of the biofloc system is maintained carefully. However, in a system, when where salinity is not maintained for the tanks, gill flukes may result in havoc. The fluke infestation may come to your tank from infected seeds of hatcheries or nurseries. Quarantine or disease-free seeds are always advisable to be used for the culture systems
