Features -

• Origin-  The breed is officially named as German Shepherd Dog (GSD). They are categorised as the medium to a large-sized working dog. They are originated in Germany. 

• Distinct feature - GSD are famous for their intelligence. In the book The Intelligence of Dogs, author Stanley Coren ranked the breed third for intelligence, behind Border Collies and Poodles. according to the book, They have the ability to learn simple tasks after only five repetitions and obeyed the first command given 95% of the time. Their muscularity, strength, intelligence,  loyalty makes them an ideal breed as a police dog, guard and search and rescue dogs. Because they are able to learn quickly various tasks and interpret instructions better than other breeds.
• Coat - For better results, regular brushing is mandatory as they have dense and double coats.  
• Temperament - GSDs are moderately active dogs. However, they are specialized in quick learning and eagerness to have a purpose. The breed is marked by a willingness to learn and an eagerness to have a purpose. They are highly suitable for search missions. German Shepherds are highly intelligent and obedient, as well as very protective of their owner and territory.
• Activity - Their physiology has made them a highly efficient dog in terms of labour intensive jobs. They can undergo the rigorous exercise on daily basis for their well being. They enjoy running, swimming, long walks/jogging and even energetic games
